TANA TORAJA

The name of Toraja is derived from Bugis word "toriaja" meaning men of the mountain. The people of Toraja believe you can take possessions with you and the dead generally go well equipped to their graves. Since this led to grave plundering, the Toraja started to hide their dead in caves or hew riches out of rock faces.

Day 1 Ujung Pandang - Toraja Land
Upon arrival at Hasanuddin airport of Ujung Pandang, greeting service and transfer to Toraja Land, which takes around 8 hours drive across Bugis Village with their typical house on poles along the magnificent mountain passes. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Pare-Pare, small port situated 155 kms north of Ujung Pandang. Late afternoon arrive in Toraja, check-in Hotel. Dinner at hotel.

Day 2 Toraja Land

Breakfast at hotel.

A full day exploring Toraja Land, visiting the stone grave at Lemo, the Royal tombs at Suaya, the baby grave in the tree at Sanggala. Lunch at local restaurant. Soon after lunch visiting Natural burial cave at Londa, and traditional carving village at Kete Kesu. Late in the afternoon return to hotel. Dinner at hotel.

Day 3 Toraja Land - Ujung Pandang
After breakfast, leave Toraja for your transfer back to Ujung Pandang. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant en-route. Afternoon arrive at the airport in Ujung Pandang for your afternoon flight to next destination.

Day 1 Ujung Pandang - Toraja Land

After breakfast, depart for a full day tour visiting traditional Toraja village with buffalo horns in front of their houses in Palawa, traditional weaving village at Sa'Dan, and ancient megalithic stone at Bori. Lunch will be provided. Then visiting an old stone grave at Marante. Overnight at dinner at Hotel in Toraja.

Day 4 Toraja Land - Ujung Pandang
After breakfast, leave Toraja for your transfer to the airport in Ujung Pandang. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant en-route. Afternoon arrive at the airport in Ujung Pandang and take your afternoon flight to the onward destination.
